Lessons From The Call Of Abraham

Abraham is popularly called the father of faith. His life serves as a challenge to generations who lived after him. His thoughts were in conformity with the way God wanted him to think. His actions belied things he could see with his physical eyes. His strategies were strange and yet, they yielded unprecedented results beyond the present.
Our present choice, thoughts, actions, strategies and methods build the foundation for our future. What is the true path to greatness? How can one be guaranteed of the divine blessings of God? Lessons from the call of Abraham show us the way.

‘Now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from they kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee’. (Gen. 12:1)
Here is the vision of God for him. It is one thing to have personal vision; to have God’s vision is another kettle of fish. At the point of receiving God’s vision, he had to abandon his own vision and marry his life with the vision God gave him. The question is what did he do thereafter?
‘Abraham when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance obeyed; and he went out not knowing whither he went. He sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country..’(Heb 11:9-10)

Abraham accepted the vision for his future, he believed it was realizable though he did not understand how it would happen. Consequently, he relocated to the land of promise-a strange land. Those actions laid the foundation for his success and assured greatness which attracted abundant blessings from God.
In a simple way, the lessons could be clearer if we look at it under these points:

Accept God’s Vision For Your Life
You have the responsible to accept the vision of God for you. There is no point resisting the vision. It is for your good and greatness. It was a vision for Abraham through the spoken word of God. For Joseph, it was through dreams. Words that proceed from the mouth of God has power of transformation. So also is God given dreams. He is wise who accept the great future that lies ahead of him. The foolish resent his future and work against it.
Accepting God’s vision for your life demands that you take vital steps towards accomplishing it.
No matter how weak you may be, there is a future for you. Remember that the ants are not strong yet they prepare their meat in the summer. What you do today prepares you for your future reality. The conies too are a feeble folk yet they make their houses in rocks. Don’t give excuse for failure any longer which must have been cause by your rejection of your best asset-the dreams and vision God gave you.
Accepting the visions is the antidote for the confusion in your life now. When you accept the vision, clarity and purpose finds you. They become your inseparable companion.
Your vision could be single. Yet, in it is hidden the secret to your ascendancy to the throne.
In the days of Jesus Christ, a man was given a single talent but he resented it. He failed to do anything tangible with it. He went to hide it. At the end, his life was empty and full of misery. The little he had was taken from him and given to those who had more than he because they invested their talents and made returns with it. Your vision and dream is the seed for a future of joy, happiness and satisfaction. It is the secret to attracting greatness and abundance.

Believe In Your Vision, Believe In Your Dream
That’s exactly what Abraham did. He did not only accepted the vision, he zealously believed in it. You need inner power to succeed. Your inspiration from within must be stronger and greater than the obstacles in your way. Believing in your dreams will banish fear from your life. Believing in your dreams will remove anxiety from your life. Faith, endurance, positive actions and righteousness become your companion. These virtues are in hot demand. Whosoever possesses them is destined to win the battle of life.

Relocate To Your Promise Land
There is a location prepared for the actualization of your dreams. There is a country specially prepared for you. There is a company destined to usher in your greatness. Whatever your vocation may be, there is a promised land for you. Whenever you receive the insight to move, don’t delay.
Changing your location may mean that you will be separated from the people you love. It may mean that you will be sent to a strange land to live and work with strange people. Follow through and don’t stay back.
Staying with your siblings and people you grew with could be the reason for your lack of progress so far. Why can’t you change your location as you are being led? Know for sure that without changing your present location, you may never accomplish the success you so much desire.
In summary, lessons from the call of Abraham teaches us to take 3 vital steps:
1. Accept our vision and dream
2. Believe in our vision and dream
3. Relocate to our promise land

I really enjoyed this post. It is right on with what God has been revealing to me about my life...my that commitment, keep the vision fresh before me, let go of all that binds me to that which would keep me from pressing forward in the plans he has for me...
Enjoyed tremendously
