3 Less Talked About Reasons For True Love

A story was told of a young man who lured his brother into the field where he killed him. Recently, two lively, young ladies were killed during a celebration to commemorate the season of love-Valentine. Do you call these true love? What is true love? What kind of love endures? Where does this true love originate? These and more shall be exposed in this lesson.

Background Scripture

'And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him'(Gen. 4:8)

'For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of the wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.(I John 3:11-12)

'If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also.' (I John 4:20-21)

1. Basic Reason For True Love

True love is of God. We cannot say we love without knowing the author of love. God is love personified. Because God is light, love too is light. Love and darkness are far apart. It is for this reason that luring others deceitfully to murder them is not true love. Confessing to love a brother or sister only to lead such to early grave is not true love. It is like the love between Samson and Delilah. You confess to love your husband. You confess to love your wife but your evil practice and ungodly living has led to the physical and spiritual death of your spouse. God is the basis for true love. Surrender your heart and life to Christ. This is the foundation for true love.

2. Branding Love In Heart And Conduct

The only way to show that you are of God if you say you are a child of God is to love your neighbour as yourself. Love your brother. Love your sister. Let the love of Christ reflect in you. When you brighten the corner where you are, others will be able to testify that you are of God.

3. Blood Purchased Redemption

Christ shed his blood to demonstrate his love for us. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. It is a reason for us to truly show love to others. If we do, we'll be showing appreciation to what Christ did for us on the cross.

This question is this. Do you really love your brother? In your nuclear family do you show love? I mean, do you love without dissimulation? In your church and community, do you show love? What are you sowing in the lives of others?

'Love suffers long, and is kind; love envies not; love vaunts not itself, is not puffed up, it does not behave itself unreasonably, it doesn't seek her own, is not easily provoked, it thinks not evil; it rejoice not in sin but rejoice in the truth; it bears all things, believe all things, endures all things. Love never fails!

Follow that path. If you do, you'll be showing true love.

The last scripture says it all. When I become discouraged, I read it and it ministers greatly to my spirit!
