But Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you'.
Most times our ways are selfish and ungodly. Besides the legitimate search for basic needs of life like food, clothing and shelter, we often over-engage in other activities which take us far from the presence of God. We want to be recognized, we want to be rich, we want to be secure through diabolical means. Such inordinate desires pushes us into things that are not convenient.
Christ in his previous message had taught his audience about the need to learn from the creation around us-they remain fresh and beautiful as in the case of the flowers. It is because God cares for them. If He could care for plants, definitely He will take care for our needs for God gives us more regard than they.
When we dwell more on things of this world, we end up joining bad groups and misbehaving. Why do people take to drugs? Because they want to feel high and recognized. They want to be respected but what is the end? Trauma and broken hearts. We never have peace and rest. There is a way out. Christ points to the right way to go.
We are to set our priorities right and seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness. All other good things in life shall be added to it. 'Come unto me all you that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest'. That was Christ's invitation and promise. Will you let him?
