How You Make God Unhappy

And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him’ (Hos. 11:7)
The bond of love is very tight. Two lovers who fall in love find it difficult to break up. The trauma that follows separation for a divorcee is rather pathetic than be imagined.
When lovers separate, many things go wrong. Ambition could be halted. Career could be truncated, children could suffer unimaginably and the hatred that follow could lead to sudden murder or manslaughter. The bond of love is extraordinary.
Our lesson today is to you who had hitherto believed in the Lord Jesus Christ but now find it difficult to continue in the race of the narrow way that leads to life.
You seem tired and worn out. You are fed up and cannot sustain your love for God.
You have been one of God’s people but your actions and attitude in recent times seem to deny the Lord who saved you and paid the supreme price for your sin.
Why have you decided to back out of your love for God? God still love you and never want you to go away from him. But ‘my people (son) is bent on backsliding from me’. Is it because of your new promotion at the place of work? Is it because of the promise of worldly riches by the powerful in the kingdom of darkness? Is it because of that strange woman? Is it because of that new environment?
You are so engrossed in the affairs of life that you hardly remember to pray and have fellowship with God daily as you use to do. Your life is now being controlled by false prophets.
The prophets prophesy falsely and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so..’(Jer. 5:31)
Check things up again You will discover that you have lost your peace. The abundant peace that nothing in the world can give has been taken away from you. ‘No peace for the wicked saith the Lord’ (Is. 48:31)
Your situation can change if you are ready to go back to the Lord. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Break Your Fallow Ground: ‘For thus saith the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, ‘Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns’ (Jer. 4:3) ‘Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you’ (Hos. 10:12)
2. Seek The Lord Now While He May Be Found:
My message to you is that you still have chance to return to the Lord. Tomorrow may be too late. Now is the time to seek the Lord again. ‘ Seek the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him: and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon’. (Is. 55:6) You need to return to the Lord just like that prodigal son did. He was warmly received by a happy father. God too want to rejoice over you again.
3. Go Back To Your First Love:
Remember how you use to pray. Go back to your knees and be separated for God. What about your zeal for visitation and evangelism. Pick it up again. Let the fire of revival be rekindled in your heart. ‘Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works..’(Rev 2:5)
