I bless the name of the Lord for the opportunity given to me to write these few lines to you in this medium today.
Surely, in Him we live and move and have our being. Without Him, we can do nothing. Praise be to His holy name.
Our message this day is to reflect on the need to train others in the values of the gospel truth we believe in. It is not enough to claim that we know God. What about our children? What about our brethren and followers? Do they know God and faithful to him as we are? Is the light of the gospel shining through them too?
Abraham had this testimony from God that he would teach his children the Lord's precepts. No wonder Isaac understood his father's language when he was told that he would be used for the sacrifice as demanded by God. He never resisted his father though an adult.
Your faith must be shared with your children at home. Your generation after you should not be religious bigots. They too must carry on the banner of truth to brighten the world. Teaching our children about the gospel and godliness is a necessity. It is not optional if we want to live in peace. The Lord's command is 'And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by teh way, when thou liest down and whne thou risest up'.
As a pastor, your spiritual children should be well trained to believe in God and share your values. Hear what Paul told timothy about this. 'And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also'. There should be continuity in faith, loyalty and trust in God. Pass it to others.

It Is A Personal Decision
Most of the things that happens to us are within our control. You can control how you think. You can control what you eat. You can control what you wear. You can control how you talk and what you say. You can control where you go. Above all, you can control how you act. Therefore you can watch all that you do.
Loving God and serving Him is an individual thing. If you want, you'll do it. If you don't want, you won't do it. It is for this reason Christ said that 'whosoever believe shall be saved'. If you believe, you'll get the benefit of salvation from sin through Chist Jesus.
The psalmist, long before Christ was born thought about how to please God. He discovered that it is not going to be by strength but there must be a will to do something very vital. What was it? He enthused 'Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto accroding to thy word'. He identified the necessity of getting close to the word of God and making it our eternal guide to the heart of God. It will not be enough to gather knowledge but to be a doer of the word.
Acting on the word of God makes us different. That is a personal decision. If you don't act on it, you'll be like others living aimlessly in ungoldly acts through life.
The psalmist went further to say 'With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me wander not from they commandments'. We commit sin when we wander from the commandment of God. And then what must we do to stay clean daily and full of good works? 'Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee'.
Pressures of life conspire with circumstances we cannot control to make us compromise on hiding the word of God in our hearts. But this we must resist. There must be a personal commitment to the word of God. Hide it daily in your heart. If you do, you will not sin against God.
Friend, you need the Holy Spirit to help you take personal decision to follow the word of God daily. Ask Him to fill your heart with understanding of the word as you read it. It shall be well with you.

All Things Will Work For Your Good
Yes. The message for you today is that of hope to replace despair. It is a message about the supreme power of God over the situation of our lives. No matter the situation you are passing through now, it will not consume you. The final is not yet heard. Is it unexpected accident? Is it domestic injury? Is it sudden loss of job as a result of recession?
Just be still and know that the Lord is God. He will be exalted over the situation of your life. 'And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called accroding to his purpose'.
That is the sublime word of assurance for you today. All things will work out for your good provided you continue to love God. That's what Job did in his time of affliction. He refused to speak foolishly against the Lord as recommended by his wife. He knew that the tribulation will not last. It is a temporary occurrence.
Satan has no final say in your life no matter how he tries.
Your time to celebrate shall come again. It is around the corner. Spend your time fruitfully in praising God for your present situation. Take time to talk to Him more in prayer. You will find that He has been waiting for you.

We cannot accurately predict the motives of people around us no matter how close we are to them. The heart of man is so elaborate and complex that no man can no the deep thoughts therein.
If you want to know the best judgement to have on any issue, grab the word of God daily and have a reflection of your life and things around you. The predictive, redemptive, informative and transformative power of the word will surprise you if you are yet to fully appreciate its powerful influence.
'For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thougts of and intents of the heart'.Can you find it there? The speed of the word of God is amazing. It can break any barrier in an instant under anointing. Never give up the thirst for the word of God to anything under the sun.
When you read it, you are looking at yourself in the mirror. You will maximally benefit more if you go ahead to do what it asks you to do.

Settle It Today
Jacob had been a supplanter all his life. He cornered his elder brother Esau and got the blessings due to him. Great enmity was created as a result of his deceptive ways and was not fit to live in the estimation of Esau.
Years went by but the problem remained. He had no confidence to face his elder brother yet, they must meet. A meeting had already been scheduled and his past kept hunting him. He feared and trembled greatly.
What Should I Do?
He thought of what to do. He could either ignore his conscience and risk his life and those of his family or repent of his evil ways and turn to God in prayer for a transformational change. He chose the latter and found time with God alone.
'And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him util the breaking of the day.'
That was the supernatural encounter that changed the course of his life 360 degrees. He was to become a brand new man-he prevailed in prayer.
His petition was answered and he was blessed that morning as his name was changed from Jacob to Isreal.
How Is Your Past Hunting You?
Your past evil has been hunting you because you fail to repent. Like Jacob, you may decide today to settle with God and reconcile with your creator so that your relationship with fellow men too could be right.
The closed door before you and the torment of fear could be as a result of your past misdeeds. Repent of them and let the blood of Jesus Christ make you whole. 'The vilest offender who truly believe, that moment from Jesus a pardon receive'.
The Lord is waiting for you. Call upon him in repentance. He will listen and give you the needed change. Settle it today.
