Having and living a good life transcends mundane things man naturally run after. Preference is always given to societal status, pursuit of wealth and riches, power and politics, wine and women, educational status and connection over righteousness. Yet righteousness has benefits that goes beyond the present world. Its value is for both this life and eternity.
We shall look at the benefits of righteousness in this lesson.
‘Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighted greatly in his commandments.
His seed shall be mighty upon the earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth forever.
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious and full of compassion, and righteous
Surely he shall not be moved for ever; the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies….his horn shall be exalted with honor.’(Ps. 112:1-9)
Christ is the foundation of righteousness. The righteousness we are talking about here is that imputed by the faith in Christ. When you have it, you are qualified for the benefits that follow.
Blessed Is The Man
The righteous fears the Lord. That is the foundation of his righteousness. As he does so, he attracts blessings from God. Happy is he for the blessings of God is without sorrow. Abraham received divine direction to offer his only son to God as sacrifice: it never took away his happiness. He believed that God who gave Isaac can give another child to him in replacement. His walk with God has established eternal blessings for him beyond a generation. There is unimaginable blessings in being righteous.
His Seed Shall Be Mighty
Righteousness is the fastest way to secure the greatness of our children. It is the surest way to build virtue and honor from generation to generation. The righteousness of Hannah greatly influenced Samuel. The sons of Rachab were uncompromising in the righteous foundation laid by their father. The name of their father was not put to shame. As you consistently live a righteous life and teach your children, you’ll be amazed to watch them grow into spiritual giants.
Wealth And Riches Shall Be In His House
Righteousness attracts the favour of God and this makes the work of his hands to be blessed. Spell and curse cannot harm him because he is blessed of God. What else makes a good life?
Light Arise To Overshadow Darkness
He cannot be overcome by the wicked. He is divinely directed. Unto him light will arise to chase darkness away. Any hidden thing is revealed by the word of God as he drinks from the spring of living waters. If any trap is set by the wicked for him, he will escape by the power of the word of God.
He Shall Not Be Moved
No one has ever been unjustly accused in history as Job. Satan compelled God to allow for the affliction of Job. Yet God never allowed Satan to touch his soul. The attitude of Job was unshakable faith in God. Instead of falling, he became wiser. He grew in patience and learnt to speak with grace. God visited him and restored his past glory in multiple folds. No affliction can break the spirit of the righteous.
He Shall Not Be Afraid Of Evil Tidings
Unexpected loss of a loved one sometimes do happen. This is an evil tiding. But the righteous cannot be afraid of that. Fear itself is more evil than temporal loss of close relations or possessions. When evil comes, the righteous continue to trust in God for his heart is fixed. He knows that whether living or dead, he is for Christ.
His Horne Shall Be Exalted With Honor
The righteous need not belong to any special caucus to be promoted. His promotion is divinely arranged and when it happens, no man can stop it. Hatred motivated Joseph’s brothers to sell him to a strange land. Evil lust motivated the wife of his boss to lie against him so that he was imprisoned: yet, his promotion was never halted. His dream still came to pass. He became a powerful political and godly leader in a strange land. He lived a good life.
Do you want to live a good life? Follow the path of righteousness. Do you want the best for your children after you? Righteousness is the best method to choose. Do you want to live your life in happiness? Why not vote for righteousness? Do you want to be bold and courageous even when evil tidings come? Righteousness is the time tested and proven virtue that will guarantee victory. If you want unstoppable promotion, be uncompromising in righteousness. A good life is guaranteed for you.
