What we make out of our lives depend substantially on our choices. We are often compelled to live with the choices we make.
In the book of proverbs chapter 4 verse 7, we are told that ‘Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding’.
But there are two kinds of wisdom, the wisdom that is from heaven and another one that is earthly wisdom.
Some believers in the early church preoccupied themselves with earthly wisdom. The result was damaging and deadly. They devoted their time in pursuit of earthly wisdom. They were denied of knowing how to communicate well among themselves. Why?
Characteristics Of Earthly Wisdom
‘But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work’ (James 3:14-16)
No matter how well read you may be, no matter how wealthy you may be, no matter how highly placed you may be, you are not immune from the deadly effect of earthly wisdom.
With your earthly wisdom, you can still develop envy and jealousy against someone doing better than you. That explains why some organizations run their competitors out of the market. It is a choice for self-seeking advantages. It is a choice for evil scheming and confusion. Death and all forms of evil works follow in the trail. If you want to please God, this should not be your choice. There is a better way. It is the heavenly wisdom.
Characteristics Of Heavenly Wisdom
‘But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy’. (James 3:17)
Any gift given by God maketh rich without adding sorrow to it. The wisdom God gives is pure. With it, you cannot live as a sinner. With it you’ll be taught to do the will of God even if not convenient. With it, you’ll strive to be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect. God’s wisdom abhor angry words because it is peaceful. It labors to follow peace with all men. It is gentle and easily persuaded. It is not difficult for it to forgive offenders. With God’s wisdom, you are made to be merciful bearing good fruits. Equality and truth is promoted at all times.
Imagine what a family with God’s wisdom can be. Think about the serenity and mutual understanding. Think about the love and affection. What about finding God’s wisdom in political leadership? Resources will be better managed without corruption and citizens will live better.
You can choose to go for the wisdom of God. Vote for it. But it will be easier for you if you are in Christ. Christ is the way, the truth and life, he will connect you to God and his wisdom. You can do it today. Today is the day of salvation. Tomorrow may be too late.

This post was right on time. I have been seeking God for His wisdom and being more careful about the things that I do to make sure that I ask Him if I am making the right decisions. This morning this is exactly what I needed to read. Thank you for being led by the Holy Spirit in your writing.
