Saved To Serve

'For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works.....'(Ephesians 2:10)
The gospel is a universal gospel that covers all race, tribe and religion. No discrimination. It is for the Jew and the gentile. The rich and poor have the same port of entrance-faith in Christ Jesus. As free and universal the gospel is, not everyone has accepted it. That is why salvation is for those who believe and accept the free gift of God through Jesus Christ.
Once you are saved, you become a new creature 'Therefore if anyone be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new' (2 Cor. 5:17)

The imparted righteousness received is not a license to live a careless life. Life in the new kingdom demands learning about principles of the kingdom. We cannot say we are saved and continue to live in the old ways. There is a daily need to resist sin and cooperate with the Holy Spirit to mold us into the image of God. The reason we must allow the Holy Ghost to impart holiness in us so that we live right is because we have a glory to be revealed in us later.
Being saved, we have a responsibility towards the brethren, those outside the fold and the authorities.

Responsibilities Toward The Brethren

Those of the household of faith need you to serve them. 'Be kindly affectioned one to anoher with brotherly love, in honor preferring one another...Distributing to the neccesity of saints; given to hospitality' (Rom 12:10,13) Identify the needs of brethren around you. Help those in need. Care for the widow. Give your time to build others. Your godly counsel and visitation could be the tonic and motivation for other brethren. Mentioning others before God in your prayer is a great way to serve. As you selflessly remember them in your prayers, God too will take care of your own need. You will also grow your prayer muscle and learn how to pray effectively. What a great way to be an intercessor.

Your Responsibilities Toward Those Outside The Folk

'Bless them which persecute you: bless and curse not...Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men' (Rom 12:17-18)The best way to know that the Holy Spirit is having his way in your life is to manifest the qualities of the kingdom as you manifest good neighbourliness, honesty, willingness to be persecuted for the sake of righteousness and peaceful living with all men. By so doing, your light will so shine before men and they will glorify your father which is in heaven. You are created for good works. Let it be your life. Let it be your living principles.

Your Responsibilities Toward Authority

'Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers are ordained of God'(Rom 13:1) Your service will be incomplete if authorities in your place of work, government, government agencies, community leaders are not honored or respected. Tax default is alien to christian practice. Breaking laws is not the life of a child of God. Remember Daniel in Babylon. No record of insurbodination found in him. When they looked for faults against him, they found none except issues that concern his private worship of the true and mighty God. God delivered him when he was wrongly persecuted. Your responsibility to authorities include praying for them to do what is right and godly.
These are the responsibilities of the saved soul. A life dedicated to service is a life worth living.

Go in this your might and let the love of Christ reflect in you.
