2 Power Buttons For The Believer

The believer's source of power is different from what men think about. Men think about having power from money, influence, position, political advantage, occultic group and ability to talk. Yet, the way of the Lord is different from the way of the world.

The Holy Ghost power gives you the boldness, courage and power to witness for Christ. That's not the focus of this lesson. This lesson will concentrate on two major sources of power for the believer which are often overlooked.

These sources are the:

  1. Gift Of The Spirit and
  2. Fruit of the Spirit

The gift of the Spirit will empower you to get to an exalted position of influence and the fruit of the Spirit will empower you to exercise the gifts in the exalted position as long as you live.

Gift of The Spirit

'And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God...

Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering; or he that teacheth, on teaching;

Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness...........

Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not...

Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. (Romans 12:2,6-8,13-14,17)

Manifestation of the gift of the Spirit is vital in your life to gain spiritual power. This power is greater than all other power combined from other sources. Above all, they could not be purchased with money. Simon attempted to buy God's gifts with money in Act 8:17-22 but he failed. What you need to do as a believer is to fervently seek the face of God for the manifestation of his gift in your life. You however need to desire it with the right motive to serve God and humanity.

Fruit Of The Spirit

Possession of the gift of God could stir up pride in you. That's why you need the fruit of the Spirit to moderate and balance the gift of the Spirit in your life. Think about Samson and how he lost the gift of God and died prematurely. If you want to enjoy serving God all the days of your life, covet fruit of the Spirit.

'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law' (Gal 5:22-25). You desperately need the fruit of the Spirit in order to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

You need fruit of love in order to love God with all your heart and love others unconditionally. You need the fruit of joy so you could live in Christ with nothing in-between. Long-suffering is God's nature that will empower you to be more useful and accommodating. Gentleness will empower you to be wise as the serpent and gentle as dove. Goodness helps you to chose good above evil. Faith turns you into a supernatural power house and empower you to please God. Meekness makes it easy for you to bear the burden of others. Temperance helps you to live a balanced life. Once your law of living is dictated by the fruit of the Spirit, you will not be found wanting in the day of the Lord.

Step out starting from today to covet the gift and fruit of the Spirit. No power in heaven and earth can displace those forces.

Peace.
