He was the first born in the family. He had a good harvest that year and everything was going fine for him, yet his life ended in misery. Where did he miss it despite the achievement he recorded? What has God to do with his all round success?
Our lesson will take us to the book of Genesis chapter 4 reading from verse 3 ‘And in the process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord........But unto Cain and to his offering God had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? And why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shall thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well
sin lieth at the door.....'
Cain Ignored God's Vital Place In His Life
That's where he missed it. He didn't start well. He ignored the
relevance of honouring God in his life. He offered an unaccepted
sacrifice to God. He rejected the Lordship of God in his life. Every
other thing he did subsequently went wrong.
You can't afford to ignore the call of God to salvation in the new year.
If you do, your offerings shall also be rejected no matter how sweet you
think it is. In his heart, he was far from God but yet, he still made an
offering. He didn't have any faith in God, yet he gave offering to God.
You may be rich and sound in health. If you reject God this year and relegate him
to the background in your heart, there is no guarantee that you'll enjoy
his abiding presence and favour. Give your heart first to God by believing in his Son Jesus
Christ. That's how to have a good start.
Cain Harbored Anger And Committed Murder
It was easy for Cain to commit murder because his ways were not right with God.
He allowed anger to have root in his heart. Consequently, he murdered an innocent soul, Abel.
Sin is easy to commit when God is not in our program. He didn't see anything wrong in
the evil he committed. He despised God and failed to love his neighbor, instead, he
destroyed and terminated a preciuos life.
If you want to live peacefully this year, you need to start well with God.
Without God, any step you take will be wrong. Let God be your priority. Be closer to God than
you have ever done before. If you seek him, you'll find him.
Cain Went Out Of The Presence Of God.
'And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord..'
The presence of God is the secret to all the power, prosperity and protection
you want in the new year. Find time to be in God's presence. He that dwell in the secret place
of God shall abide under the shadow of the most high. Don't go from the presence of God.
Rather seek his presence. Seek his will. Seek his mind. Devote precious time to God's word and you'll find
him.
Path To Good Success
'This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to
all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success' (Jos. 1:8)
If you read and obey the word of God this year, you are guaranteed good success.
Walk With God
'Enoch walked with God' (Gen. 5:22). That's what you should do this year.
Walk with God. Stay away from the gathering of the wicked and wayward.
The blessings of God will follow you automatically. 'Blessed in the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful' (Psalm 1:1)
You have been walking with wicked people and sinners since all this years. Now is the time to have a turn around. Walk with God. Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
May your path be straight in this new year. It is well with you.
